Washington Redskins vs Cleveland Browns : They’ll host the Washington Redskins in Week 1 of preseason action Thursday … This Browns team is very talented. This week Thursday will kick start with the NFL preseason games and Washington Redskins will play their first game against Cleveland Browns from First Energy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. The Redskins will be missing several players on offense and will have a few more that will be limited if they play at all .

Colt McCoy being out opens up playing time for Dwayne Haskins and Josh Woodrum with Case Keenum getting the start.Redskins fans might have to wait a little longer to see 1st round pick Montez Sweat on the field. Everyone is looking forward to seeing rookie WRs Terry McLaurin and Kelvin Harmon hit the field in the Burgundy and Gold. Also the returns of Trey Quinn, Cam Sims, and Robert Davis who are all coming back from injuries. There will be plenty of future Mason/Brennan stars emerging from the shadows of training camp tomorrow night. Can Not Wait!

As with the start of any season, there is plenty of excitement about the year ahead. There are also plenty of unknowns.

The most obvious question mark is who will be the starting quarterback. They have two veterans in the mix with Case Keenum, who arrived over the offseason from Denver, and Colt McCoy, who has been with the Redskins since 2014, and of course the rookie out of Ohio State, Dwayne Haskins. The battle for the starting job will shift to an NFL field on Thursday night.

There are also questions about the offensive line. More specifically, about their Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams. When will he return? Will he return at all?Of course, the preseason will feature key position battles up and down the roster. All of these questions will be answered over the next four weeks, and NBC Sports Washington will be here to guide you through.

Heading into the 2018 college football season, many draft analysts were already looking to the 2019 NFL Draft with certain prospects in mind. Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson was looked at as a potential first or second-round selection in the draft. Fast forward to April, and Wilson’s name tumbled down the draft board until Browns general manager John Dorsey made the call to pick the 6’0″ junior with the 155th selection in the draft.

While Wilson’s fall may not be known, what IS known is Wilson is a playmaker in the passing game, as evident by his highlight plays in recent training camp practices.

In his player profile, Wilson was noted and praised by The Draft Network’s Joe Marino for his coverage skills, “Glides through space when sinking in zone drops. Naturally reads the quarterback and works into throwing lanes. Has the movement skills needed to carry running backs and tight ends into space. Ball skills are outstanding and made some plays on the football the looked like he was a wide receiver.”

This week Thursday will kick start with the NFL preseason games and Washington Redskins will play their first game against Cleveland Browns from First Energy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Washington will look forward to make the best of the upcoming season and the preseason game will be something they look forward too. The truth about the Redskins is that they do not an intact defending line. Washington will need to identify their potential players during the preseason and they might need to focus on the backfield.

Cleveland Browns enters the preseason with a little success for last year. The Browns have worked on the receives and defense to suppress their opponents as much as possible. Unlike the Redskins, Cleveland has progressed and the last season was not so bad compared to their opponent on Thursday. Overall, Cleveland Browns focused on a balanced squad for their team, and that is what they exactly need to go a long way before the regular season starts. This preseason will be the best chance for them to put their player to the test and Washington Redskins will be the perfect opponent for Cleveland.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller said of Wilson, “Alabama’s Mack Wilson is the ideal middle linebacker for today’s game. He’s capable of playing in a 3-4, 4-3, 3-3-5 or 4-2-5 defense and has experience in each of them for the Crimson Tide. Nick Saban’s staff has done a great job coaching up Wilson’s reaction time and football IQ while also using his athleticism and range to its advantage.”

Entering training camp, it seemed like third-round rookie linebacker Sione Takitaki would be the rookie with the fastest track to playing time, but from all observations, there’s a good chance both could see roles carved out on defense. Takitaki and Wilson, who are roommates for training camp, are perfect complements for each other. Takitaki is a strong run defender but still developing his coverage skills. Wilson is phenomenal in coverage, but struggles against the run, often getting caught up in blocks.

Wilson is the perfect type of coverage sub-package linebacker who could help in space on tight ends and running backs. He has shown throughout training camp his ball skills are not to be forgotten either.
